I ended up in an Eva clickbait rabbithole on that website about an hour ago. Some gay Indian guy kept writing about how Shinji is gay cause that angel loved him or something.

i didn't really understand the first half of the show. maybe its an anime thing but it didn't seem to go anywhere and was just a cycle of angsty boy being thirsty for his bitches and occasional robot battles.

second half of the show was pretty cool if you like artsy shit. movie is good too.

i feel like if you like anime this show would be 10/10 but from what I watched it was okay.

The one and only time I ever watched it was 9 years ago.
I read an analysis online after finishing the movie and for a single glorious moment it all made sense.
I can't remember any of it now and have zero desire to re-watch so it was probably crap.

On a sidenote, I hate the new site themes.
I wish one of the numerous admins would restore Royal.

It has lot to say about escapism and confronting pain. The reason the characters often seem distant towards eachother is because their own personal baggage prevents them from being honest about their feelings due to their fear of rejection and pain that comes after.
